David A. Field, Esq.
David A. Field, a shareholder of Field Lomenzo, P.C., is is a graduate of Tufts University, (magna cum laude), and Columbia Law School (J.D.). He has been practicing for more than thirty years, subspecializing in divorce and family law for the last twenty- five years. He is an experienced litigator and has helped shaped the law in New York on equitable distribution in marital cases in two landmark decisions decided in the Appellate Division, Jolis v. Jolis and Charpié v. Charpié, the first involving distribution to the spouse of the value of the other spouse's business and the latter having to do with the payment of legal fees by the wealthier spouse based upon a comparison of assets.
Mr. Field is a member of the New York State Bar, Family Law Section, the New York County Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to Federal practice in the Southern District of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has tried cases in every county in the New York City metropolitan area as well as other states and has argued appeals in various Appellate Divisions and the New York State Court of Appeals. Articles concerning cases handled by Mr. Field have appeared in the New York Law Journal, The New York Post, The Daily News, Newsday and the Nassau Herald. Mr. Field has been rated "AV" by Martindale- Hubbel, the highest rating that law directory gives attorneys.
Mr. Field uses the hands-on approach to his litigated matters, personally handling and closely supervising all aspects of his cases from the initial conference to the drafting of pleadings, pre-trial discovery, motions, trial preparation, the trial and defending or prosecuting appeals. He is keenly aware of the emotional turmoil experienced by the matrimonial client during a difficult time of life, particularly where there are children of the troubled marriage. While vigorously advocating his client's interests, he realizes that the best result for all, particularly the children, is a negotiated settlement. Thus, after throughly conducting discovery of the assets and income of the marriage and learning of the best interests of the children, he employs his best efforts to resolve the case to avoid the trauma and costs of a trial, potential appeals and the costs attendant thereto. If a case cannot settle in a manner consistent with good judgment and fairness, the client can rest assured that Mr. Field's more than thirty years of experience has honed his talents as an aggressive and respected trial attorney.
